Hay Festival launched by the Taoiseach

The Taoiseach visited Kells to launch a number of initiatives including the Hay Festival Kells.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be the first Irish venue to host the world renowned Hay Literary Festival.” Commented Bill who is a director of the organising body. “Bill Clinton described Hay as the Woodstock of the mind and there is no venue more appropriate for the festival than the ancient monastic town of Kells.”

The festival runs from June 28th to June 30th and brings a host of literary names to Kells including John Banville, Germaine Greer, Jeanette Winterson and many others. The full programme can be downloaded at www.hayfestival.com/kells
